Vernon Obituary: George Catsavas, 89

Condolences to his family and friends.

George Catsavas, 89, of Vernon, beloved husband of 34 years to his loving wife Shirley (Suschana) Catsavas, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 27, 2017.

Born in Queens, New York, the son of the late Gus and Antonia Catsavas, he grew up and lived in New York City and East Hartford before moving to Vernon twenty-five years ago. George proudly served his country in the U. S. Army during the Korean War.

George was a restaurateur and he owned and operated the former George’s Restaurant at the Colony in Vernon for over 20 years before his retirement. He was an avid sports fan, who loved all the New York teams.

In addition to his loving wife, he is survived by two children, Robert and Karen; three grandsons; two sisters, Florence Casanova, and Toni Brandt; a nephew, Stephen J. Suschana Jr. and his family, and several additional nieces and nephews.

His family will receive friends for calling hours on Thursday, November 30, 2017 from 4 - 7 PM with a funeral service beginning at 7 PM at the Ladd-Turkington & Carmon Funeral Home, 551 Talcottville Road (Route 83), Vernon. Burial will be private and at the convenience of his family.
