Vernon Obituary: George Dwyer, 88

George John Dwyer, 88, beloved husband of the late Dorothy (Leisher) Dwyer, died at his residence in South Windsor on October 15, 2016. He was the son of the late William and Margaret (White) Dwyer.

He was born October 15, 1928 in Philadelphia, PA. George married Dorothy Leisher, October 21, 1949 in Philadelphia, PA and they raised their five children in Levitttown, PA, Flourtown, PA, and Vernon. Following his retirement from ScanOptics, George relocated to Hernando, FL. He was a Eucharistic Minister at Our Lady of Grace Roman Catholic Church in Beverly Hills, FL. George was also a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Benevolent Brotherhood of the Elks in Hernando, FL.

George is survived by his children: Elizabeth Guistwite and her husband David of Reading, PA; Patricia Goodrich and her husband Dale of Lawrence, KS; George Dwyer and his wife Elaine of Rockville; and Charles Dwyer and his wife Cheryl of Ellington. He will also be missed by his nine grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. George was predeceased by his wife Dorothy, his daughter Susan Janiak, and his grandson Stephen Janiak.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12 PM on Saturday, October 29, 2016 at St. Joseph’s Church, 33 West Street, Rockville. Burial will follow at St. Bernard’s Cemetery, Vernon.
