Vernon Obituary: Guy Cudworth, 95

Condolences to his family and friends.

Guy Clayton Cudworth, 95, of Vernon, passed away peacefully in his sleep on June 21, 2017.

Clay was born in Southbridge, MA on August 1, 1921, to the late Richard and Mary (Brown) Cudworth. He grew up in Quinebaug and served in intelligence during World War II in the United States Army Air Force.

Clay spent over 62 years as a Vernon resident, where he and his wife raised two sons. He worked as an engineer with Pratt & Whitney before retiring 30 years ago.

Clay enjoyed fishing, golfing, and gardening, and was a talented woodworker, creating beautiful pieces of furniture, and wooden toys for his grandchildren. He loved his family and especially enjoyed time spent with his grandchildren.

He is survived by his two sons, David Cudworth of Vernon, and Keith Cudworth and daughter-in-law Jane of Litchfield, his grandchildren Christopher and Kate Cudworth. Aside from his parents, Clay was predeceased by his beloved wife, Marion.

His memorial service is being held on Friday, June 30, 2017 at Ladd-Turkington & Carmon Funeral Home, 551 Talcottville Road, (Route 83) Vernon, at noon. Family and friends are invited to the funeral home from 11:00 a.m. to noon prior to the service for a time of visitation. Burial will be private at the request of his family.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Clay's name may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
