Vernon Obituary: Harry Galinat, 78

Condolences to his family and friends.

Harry A. Galinat, 78, of Vernon, passed away at home surrounded by family, on Thursday, August 17, 2017.

Harry was born in Pittsburgh, PA to the late Frederick and Lydia (Thiemecke) Galinat, on March 30, 1939. He went on to marry Carole E. Straiter in September of 1960, and the two spent their lives together until his death.

Harry worked as an Operations Manager with RGIS Inventory Specialists in Manchester. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. Stubborn and hardworking, he was an avid reader and enjoyed watching TV, when not working to provide for his family.

He is survived by his wife Carole of close to 57 years; their son, James C. Galinat, of Vernon; daughter Kara L. Cantrell and her husband Felix Jr., of MO; son-in-law Douglas Butterfield, of NY; grandchildren Alexandra E. Butterfield, Natasha N. Galinat, Felix W. Cantrell III, Stephanie Cantrell. He was predeceased by both of his parents, as well as his daughter Kelley L. Butterfield.

Services will be held at Ladd-Turkington & Carmon Funeral Home, 551 Talcottville Road (Route 83), Vernon, on Tuesday, August 22, 2017 at 11 AM. Burial will follow at Grove Hill Cemetery in Vernon. Family and friends are invited to gather at the funeral home prior to his service from 10 AM - 11 AM.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Harry’s memory may be made to The Given Limb Foundation, 2 Purchase Lane, Rye, New York 10580 or Alzheimer’s Association, alz.org.
