
Herbert H. Friedrich, Jr., 92, of Ellington, beloved husband for 63 years to Blanche Friedrich, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 12, 2016.
Born in Hartford, the son of the late Herbert Sr. and Ursula (Achatz) Friedrich, he grew up and lived in Rockville before moving to Ellington in 1957. Herb proudly served his country with the Navy Seabees during World War II. Upon completion of his military service, he attended the Waltham School of Watchmaking in Waltham, MA. Herb was the third generation to own the family business, Friedrich Jewelers Inc.
He loved working in his vegetable and flower gardens, planting, weeding and enjoying everything he grew. Going to the casino was a great day for him.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Douglas Friedrich and wife Jacquelyn of Union, Donald Friedrich and companion Jerry of Enfield, and daughter Linda Ouimet and husband Michael of Ellington; four grandchildren, Laura Clifford and husband Rob of Medford, MA, Scott Friedrich and husband Blake of Vernon, Kevin Ouimet and wife Kristin of Ellington, Ryan Ouimet of Ellington; one great grandchild, Emma Ouimet of Ellington who makes everyone smile; twin brother Robert and wife Lillian of Stafford Springs, and several nieces and nephews. One special niece, Brenda Friedrich of Somers. He was also predeceased by a sister, Dorothy Hublard.
Graveside services will be held on Monday, September 19, 2016 at 11 a.m. in Valley Falls Cemetery, Valley Falls Road, Vernon with military honors.
