Vernon Obituary: Jean Daniel, 91

Condolences to her family and friends.

Jean F. Daniel, 91, beloved wife of the late Harry Daniel, Sr., passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 14, 2015 at Fox Hill Center, Vernon.

She was born on July 22, 1924 in Taunton, MA and was the daughter of the late Milton and Catherine (Spillane) Sherman. She grew up in Taunton, MA and then moved to East Windsor and Windsor Locks where she lived for twenty seven years. Jean proudly served her country in the United States Navy during World War II in military transport services. She was a communicant of St. Phillip Church in East Windsor and St. Mary Church in Windsor Locks. Jean was a member of the VFW in Windsor Locks, Windsor Locks Senior Center, and American Legion Post 40 in East Windsor and Post 36 in Windsor Locks. She enjoyed reading, Bingo, knitting, and bowling.

She is survived by seven children Judith Ouellette of Willington, Thomas Potter and his wife Jane of Willington, Jack Potter and his wife Patricia of Spencer, MA, Linda L. Potter of New York, NY, Harry Daniel, Jr. and his wife Dorothy of Marlborough, William Daniel and his wife Patricia of Springfield, MA, and Susan Lamagna and her husband Richard of Belchertown, MA; eight grandchildren Kimberly Smith, Stacey and Eric Ouellette, Simone Rutkowitz, Zachary Daniel, Kristen Connolly, Danielle Hoagland, and Anthony Douillard; a sister Betty Torres of North Dighton, MA, a sister-in-law Thelma Sherman of North Dighton, MA, and many nieces, nephews, and dear friends. In addition to her husband she was predeceased by a daughter Linda Douillard, a son-in-law Carl, and her brothers Robert and Tom and a sister Geraldine.

Relatives and friends are welcome to join the family on Wednesday, November 18, 2015 from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m. at the Windsor Locks Funeral Home, 441 Spring Street, Windsor Locks. A funeral procession will gather at 10:30 a.m. for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary Church, 42 Spring Street, Windsor Locks. Burial with military honors will follow in Springdale Cemetery, East Windsor.

Jean’s family would like to extend a special thank you to the caring staff at Fox Hill Center especially Kathy, Angie, Patrist, Guy, and Beth.
