
Joseph "Nick" Nicholas Poinatale, 71, of Vernon, loving husband of 18 years to Denise (Brisson) Poinatale, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 25, 2017 at Hartford Hospital with his family at his side.
Born in Muskogee, Oklahoma, the son of the late Salvatore and Millie (Hensley) Poinatale, he grew up and lived most of his life in Bristol before moving to Vernon eighteen years ago. Prior to his retirement in 2011, Nick was employed by CarMax in Hartford, and he was previously employed by Aetna Insurance Company in Hartford for many years.
He was a communicant of St. Bernard's Church in Rockville. Nick was a 4th Degree Knight in the Knights of Columbus Council #4122. He was a former District Deputy, past Faithful Navigator for the fourth degree, and a past Grand Knight of Council #4122. Nick was an avid fisherman and a New York Yankees fan. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend who enjoyed being with his family and friends.

In addition to his loving wife, he is survived by his daughter Keri Ann Blanchette (Christopher) of Charlotte, NC and their children, Lucas, Patrick and Jolene; his brothers, James Poinatale (Debbie), Richard Poinatale (Pat), and Robert Poinatale (Diane); his sister, Angela Poinatale (Gary Cote); his mother-in-law, Mary Brisson; his brothers-in-law, Robert Brisson (Joyce), and Charles Brisson (Kathleen); his sisters-in-law, Joan Staves, Mary Lou Zmijeski (Stephen), and Elizabeth Gagne (Raymond), and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his former wives Helen Poinatale and Jackie Poinatale from Plainville and their families. He was also predeceased by his father-in-law, Charles Brisson.
His family would like to thank Dr. Menon and all the staff at the Wethersfield Infusion Center for the wonderful care they gave to Nick.

His family will receive friends for calling hours on Sunday, January 29, 2017 from 3 – 6 p.m. at the Ladd-Turkington & Carmon Funeral Home, 551 Talcottville Road (Route 83), Vernon. Family and friends may gather at the funeral home on Monday, January 30, 2017 at 9 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Bernard's Church, 25 St. Bernard Terrace, Rockville. Burial will follow in Mt. St. Benedict Cemetery, Bloomfield.
