Vernon Obituary: Patricia Aylward, 87

Condolences to her family and friends.

Patricia (Fallon) Aylward, 87, of Vernon, beloved wife of the late John R. Aylward, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 14, 2017 at her home with her family at her side.

Born in Fall River, Massachusetts, the daughter of the late Francis and Edna (Rouillard) Fallon, she grew up and lived in Fall River, and has lived in Vernon for the past 53 years. She was a graduate of Dominican Academy, Class of 1948.

She was a longtime member of Sacred Heart Church in Vernon. Prior to her retirement in 1992, Patricia was employed by Manchester Memorial Hospital for many years. She was a member of the Suburban Women’s Club of Vernon, and was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels.

Patricia enjoyed her yard, gardening, feeding the birds and, most of all, she loved to spend special times with her family and share in the many adventures of her children and grandchildren. She liked to play bridge, and enjoyed the Mahjong Group at the Vernon Senior Center.

She is survived by her children, June Hopper and her husband Timothy of Roseville, CA, Jay Aylward and his wife Susan of Redmond, OR, Jane LaVigne and her husband Kevin of Happy Valley, OR, James Aylward and his wife Joan of Westborough, MA, Michael Aylward and his wife Nancy of Eden, UT, and Richard Aylward and Fiancé Kelly Green of Placerville, CA; thirteen grandchildren, Shelley, Sarah, Christopher, John, Stephanie, Jessica, Aaron, Ryan, Taylor, Allison, Westley, Cody, and Jenny; four great grandchildren, Tanner, John, Waverly, and Evangeline; a brother, Gerald Fallon and his wife Sonia of Fall River, MA; a sister, Joan Hodgson and her husband Henry of Fall River, MA, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by three brothers, Thomas, Roy, and Maurice Fallon, and a sister, Louise Fallon.

Her family will receive friends for calling hours on Saturday, September 23, 2017 from 9 - 11 a.m. at the Ladd-Turkington & Carmon Funeral Home, 551 Talcottville Road (Route 83), Vernon followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, 550 Hartford Turnpike (Route 30), Vernon. Burial will follow in Valley Falls Cemetery, Vernon.
