Vernon Obituary: William Maudsley, Jr., 79

Condolences to his family and friends.

William A. “Bill” Maudsley, Jr., 79, of Vernon, loving husband of 43 years to Pauline (Lawton) Maudsley, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 16, 2018 at St. Francis Hospital.

Born in Hartford, the son of the late William and Helen (Casey) Maudsley, he grew up and lived in Hartford, and Manchester before moving to Vernon over forty-two years ago. Bill proudly served his country in the U. S. Marine Corps from 1957 to 1960.

Prior to his retirement in 2004, Bill was a car salesman at Bolles Motors in Ellington for several years. After his retirement, Bill worked part time for Nixon Auto Parts in Vernon. He was an avid sports fan who was devoted to the Red Sox and Giants. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, and friend who enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his beloved sons, Robert Maudsley and his wife Jane of Holland, MA, and Matthew Maudsley of Vernon; two grandsons, Joseph and Daniel Maudsley; several great grandchildren; three siblings, John Maudsley and his wife Judy of California, Joseph Maudsley and his companion Linda Wicke of East Hartford, and Kathleen Dochter of Storrs, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his daughter, Lori Maudsley, and his brother, Robert Maudsley.

His family will receive friends for memorial calling hours on Friday, March 23, 2018 from 5 - 7 p.m. followed by a memorial service beginning at 7 p.m. at the Ladd-Turkington & Carmon Funeral Home, 551 Talcottville Road (Route 83), Vernon. Burial will be private and at the convenience of his family.
