Tolland and Vernon ambulance crews assisted at the scene, officials said.
A family with two adults and six children lived there. The children ranged in age from 7 months to 16 years old, according to the family.
The American Red Cross provided comfort kits containing personal care items such as toothbrushes, deodorant; shaving supplies and other items a resident might not have been able to gather in the rush to escape the fire.
Those affected will meet with Red Cross caseworkers in the coming days to work on a longer-term recovery plan, official said.
A Go Fund Me account has been set up to assist the family with expenses.
"They lost everything in a house fire. Please, they are in need of everything and or anything," according to a Go Fund Me post.
