Vernon Pet Store Beginning New Era At New Location This Week

VERNON, CT — After a flurry of activity at its new location over the past couple of weeks, a Vernon-based pet business that has been around for about four decades is set to open at a new location up Route 83.

July 5 is the announced opening of Animal City's new location at 426 Talcottville Road, the plaza at the intersection of Route 83 and Merline Road.

The pet business had been at the Tri-City Plaza for about 40 years. A sign posted on the doors of the old place indicated that after a limbo period of between June 24 and this week, the new location will be opening on July. 5.

"We will be closing the doors at the Animal City Tri City Plaza after almost four decades in this location," an announcement said. "We are very excited, however, to announce that the manager of 17 years will be opening his very own Animal City with all of the same crew right down the road at 425 Talcottville Rd, Vernon, CT as of July 5th 2023."

Smaller signs hinting at the move popped up in a window at the new location in mid-June and construction activity stepped up over the last two weeks.

The marquis sign was placed at the new location last week.
