Vernon Plaza Proposal Could Give Owner Monopoly Board Style Holdings
An area businessman is building up a portfolio of holdings in Vernon.

VERNON, CT — With conceptual plans outlined for another small strip plaza on Route 83 in Vernon, a north central Connecticut businessman has his sights on a commercial section of holdings resembling part of a Monopoly board.
A sign recently emerged in front of the former Pancho Loco restaurant at 218 Talcottville Road (the local name for Route 83) that a strip plaza stretching onto the current Lazy Liquor property at No. 212 is "coming soon." Stores measuring between 2,000 square feet and 14,000 square feet would be available over a 20,500-square-foot building, according to the sign.
South Windsor-based Zagdev Toor owns the properties. He said he closed on the Pancho parcel at the end of March (Pancho closed at the end of February) and anticipated sending a formal site plan to Vernon Planning and Zoning Department officials over the next couple of weeks.

The land around the liquor store has been cleared and Toor said everything would be razed to make way for the new plaza.
Toor also owns the plaza at No. 218 leased by Pro Health and the former bounce house building at No. 234. The latter is to become a recreational cannabis facility.

The only establishment blocking Toor from having a complete Monopoly-style block is Square Peg Pizza at No. 226.
He said the new plaza will modernize that section of Route 83.
