Vernon Police Charge Man For Posting 'Revenge Porn'

VERNON, CT — A man is facing a criminal charge in Vernon for illegally distributing an intimate image of an acquaintance, according to an arrest report.

The 35-year-old North Windham resident was taken into custody Sunday on a warrant, police said. He has been charged with unlawfully disseminating an intimate image.

Police said it began with a relationship gone sour and described the image as "intimate."

State statutes refer to the act as "revenge porn," which state statute Section 53a-189c makes it a criminal misdemeanor to disseminate.

The term “disseminate” is defined by sate law as to "sell, give, provide, lend, trade, mail, deliver, transfer, publish, distribute, circulate, present, exhibit, advertise or otherwise offer."

The man posted a $1,000 bond and is to appear in Rockville Superior Court on Nov. 1, records show.
