Vernon Police Checkpoint Results in 50-plus Tickets
The checkpoint was funded by state and federal grant funds under the Click-it-or-Ticket initiative.

VERNON, CT — Police encountered 54 violations and made one arrest during a seat belt enforcement checkpoint on Tuesday.
The checkpoint ran from 7 to 11 a.m. with Vernon police and officers from Metro Traffic Services on Reservoir Road (state Route 31) at the intersection with Sunrise Drive. The checkpoint was funded by state and federal grant funds under the Click-it-or-Ticket initiative.
During the checkpoint, 35 operators were found to be unbelted, 16 were using their cellular telephones while operating their vehicles, two motorists were uninsured, one vehicle was unregistered, and one individual was found to have an active arrest warrant for which he was subsequently taken into custody in a theft case.

Police said they will continue to run seat belt compliance checks using the Click-it-or-Ticket grant funds through June 3.
