Vernon Police Dog Franco Now Featured On Trading Cards

The trading cards are in featuring Vernon Police Department canine Franco.

VERNON, CT — The official trading cards are here for Vernon police dog Franco.

His handler, Officer Brandan Zawadski, was handing them out at last week's trunk-or-treat event at Henry Park and has been at events for a while now.

He has a large stash of them.

A large-scale fundraising campaign was undertaken to bring Franco to Vernon. He is a German Shepherd/Belgian Malinois mix who was born on July 15, 2020. He joined the Vernon Police Department in June 2022, when he began training with Zawadski .

Franco is trained in tracking and trailing, narcotics detection, building search, evidence recovery and criminal apprehension.

In has free time, Franco has been known to play fetch with his favorite ball and enjoy a hot dog now and then.

Zawadski said he will be handing out cards at public events and during random encounters in public.
