Vernon Police Identify Motorcycle Driver Killed In Sunday Crash

The identity of the motorcycle driver killed in a crash Sunday in Vernon has been released.

VERNON, CT — The driver of a motorcycle killed in a crash Sunday in Vernon has been identified as a 54-year-old Stafford man.

Vernon police released John White's name Monday.

The crash involving White was one of two serious motorcycle crashes that occurred nearly simultaneously in town Sunday afternoon.

At 1:38 p.m. on Talcottville Road (Route 83) near Pitkin Road, a Honda CRV driven by a 77-year-old Vernon man was heading south. It was making a left-hand turn into the CVS parking lot at 142 Talcottville Road when it collided with white's motorcycle, which was heading north, police said. White was taken to Rockville General Hospital and pronounced dead a short time later, police said.

The other occurred on Hartford Turnpike (Route 30) near Cold Spring Drive at 1:43 p.m. The driver of a motorcycle was on the westbound side of Hartford Turnpike and was attempting to pull over for an emergency vehicle trying to get the the Talcottville Road crash, according to a crash report. The driver then lost control of the bike and crashed for some unknown reason, according to the report.

The driver of the bike on Route 30 was airlifted to an area hospital, police said.

No charges have been filed in the fatal crash.
