Vernon police are investigating a report of a man approaching a girl who was coming home from school on Friday.

VERNON, CT — Vernon police are investigating a report of a man approaching a girl who was coming home from school on Friday.
The girl told an adult about the incident and the adult called police, according to a report.
At 2:37 p.m., a girl police described as being middle school/early high school aged was walking in the area of Tracy Drive, Kenneth Drive and Vernon Summit Drive. Police were told she was approached by a black male driving a Nissan who allegedly made “inappropriate” comments to her, according to a report.

The girl was was approached shortly after getting off a school bus in the neighborhood near her home, a report indicates.
The man is being described as being in his 20s with short, dark hair, driving a dark Nissan sedan.

The girl was not injured and the man did not try to get her into his car, police said.
After the girl made it home and after an adult called them regarding the incident, police notified administrators from the Vernon public school system and are working "collaboratively" with education officials to investigate, police said.
Police released images of the vehicle and want to speak with anyone who was in the neighborhood around the time of the incident or anyone who have may have seen the vehicle.
