Vernon Police Issue Package Theft Warning
"It's that time of year," for package thefts, Vernon police said.

VERNON, CT — Vernon police this week sent out a warning to residents after receiving several calls regarding package thefts.
"It's that time of year again," police said. "Unfortunately, we are starting to get reports of package thefts."
Vernon police offered several tips that could help thwart package thefts:

- Instruct the delivery person to place packages out of sight, such as behind benches, planters, or columns on a porch.
- For a more secure delivery option, have the shipping company send packages to a place of work rather than home.
- Sign up to have the delivery company send delivery alerts via text or email so packages can be tracked in real-time and retrieved soon as the delivery person drops them off.
- Ask a trusted neighbor to watch for packages and, if possible, pick them up right after delivery.
