Vernon Police Officer Hurt in Crash Sunday

The officer was responding to the report of a fight, police said.

VERNON, CT — A Vernon police officer was injured in a car crash while responding to a call early Sunday morning, police said.

A 1:55 a.m. on Sunday, the officer was responding to a report of a fight, police said.

While en route, the officer was involved in a collision on Route 83 at the intersection of Hockanum Boulevard, police said.

The officer received non-life threatening injuries and was transported to St Francis Medical Center by Vernon Ambulance, police said.

The other operator refused treatment at the scene, police said.

The Metro Traffic Accident Reconstruction Team was called in to investigate the crash and the road was closed during the investigation, police said.

Police said no charges have been filed and the accident remains under investigation.
