Update: Arrest Made in Vernon Double Stabbing Case
The incident happened on Vernon Ave. Monday afternoon.
Police have arrested one of the men that was found with stab wounds Monday afternoon.
Police responded to 137 1/2 Vernon Ave. for a report of a stabbing around 1 p.m. said Lt. William Meier.
One adult male victim was taken via LifeStar Helicopter to the hospital in critical condition. Vernon Police administered first aid to the victim, including the application of Quick Clot to help control bleeding. He is undergoing surgery and was in critical condition as of Monday night.

The other, identified as Irving Mercado, 21, of 137 1/2 Vernon Ave. was brought to hospital by ambulance with non life-threatening injuries.
Mercado has been charged with first-degree assault and is being held in lieu of a $500,000 bond. He is tentatively scheduled to be arraigned Tuesday morning, but is still being treated at the hospital, Meier said.

Mercado and the victim knew each other and police have located all involved parties, Meier said. Police continue to investigate and more charges are expected to be filed against Mercado.
Vernon Police along with State Police Eastern District Major Crimes and Tolland State’s Attorney are investigating.
