Vernon Resident Killed In Crash Early Monday
A crash early Monday claimed the life of a Vernon resident.

VERNON, CT — A crash on Route 30 claimed the life of Vernon resident early Monday morning.
At about 3 a.m., Vernon police, fire and EMS crews responded to Route 30 near Merline Road for a crash with serious injuries. Police said a BMW sedan had collided with a commercial box truck and both vehicles had appeared to have been traveling on Route 30.
The driver of the BMW, described as an "adult male" and Vernon resident, was transported to Rockville General Hospital where he was, pronounced dead, police said.

The "adult male" driver of the box truck was transported to St Francis Hospital and Medical Center in Hartford with serious injuries, police said.
The victims were not being identified mid-Monday morning because next of kin had not been notified, according to police.

Vernon police crash reconstructionists are investigating with assistance from the Metro Traffic Services Reconstruction Team. No charges have been filed. Anyone with information or any witnesses are asked to contact Vernon Police 860-872-9126.
The road re-opened at about 7 a.m.
