
VERNON, CT - Lexi Real had 11 strikeouts and allowed one hit in a dominating performance as Vernon-Rockville defeated Windsor 2- 0 to win the District 8 9/10 Division Softball Championship.
Real faced the minimum of three hitters in four of the six innings played and was assisted with another strong performance by Morgan Geisinger behind the plate who threw out another runner attempting to steal.
Geisinger also caught a foul pop-up.

The defense made solid plays when needed led by Lila Ward at second base and Chloe Keane at shortstop.
Vernon-Rockville jumped out to a 1 - 0 lead in the bottom of the first when Caitlin Chatterton bunted for a hit (one of her two infield hits), stole second and scored on Morgan Geisinger's double to right field.

Vernon-Rockville scored their final run in the second inning when Madison Pitkin had an infield hit, stole second and scored on Lexi Real's double (one of her two hits) The game was interrupted for a one hour rain delay during the next batter before the teams returned to the playing field.
After a rain delay, the pitchers dominated the action. For Windsor, Jessica Burgeson had 10 strikeouts and pitched a strong game.
Ryleigh Phillips supported her team's efforts by making some excellent plays at second base. Mia Fitzsimmons had Windsor's one hit and was on base three times.
With the victory, Vernon-Rockville advances to Section 4 play next week.
