
VERNON, CT - After going undefeated in pool play, the Vernon-Rockville 9/10 baseball team defeated Manchester National 7-6 on Friday to capture the District 8 championship.
Manchester National was up 5-1 going into the bottom of the fifth inning after a strong pitching performance by starter Alex Pelletier.
Vernon-Rockville then rallied in the bottom of the fifth by putting six runs on the board.

The victory was a team effort with contributions coming from the entire lineup.

Each pitcher was effective in throwing strikes, while the defense made several plays in the field. Elias Martinez, Troy Enamait, Austin Petow, and Zach Hahn all made key plays at crucial points in the game.
Vernon-Rockville now heads to the Sectionals in Willimantic with its first game scheduled for Tuesday.
