Vernon School System Employee Charged With Sexual Assault

A Vernon man has been arrested by state police for second-degree sexual assault.

VERNON, CT — A Vernon school system employee and firefighter already on leave after an arrest for third-degree assault two months ago was arrested by state police Wednesday for second-degree sexual assault.

David Williams, 37, of Vernon, surrendered on a warrant in the sexual assault case Wednesday morning, according to an arrest report. He was arraigned in Rockville Superior Court later in the day and had his initial $10,000 bond cut in half. He posted it and is due back in court on Aug. 20, court records indicate.

A clerk at the courthouse said the warrant is not sealed but was not available for viewing on Thursday afternoon because of redaction issues. It was not attached to the arrest report.

Williams has a maintenance-related job in the school system and had been placed on administrative leave after a May arrest by Vernon police, school officials said.

Vernon police said Williams was arrested in an unrelated incident on May 23 for third-degree assault and disorderly conduct after an incident described as domestic in nature.
