Vernon Speeding Stop Leads To Drug, Weapons Charges

VERNON, CT — A Tolland woman is facing drug and weapons charges after a traffic stop in Vernon, police said.

The incident involving 22-year-old Morgan O'Connell took place Thursday and police released the details Monday.

At 12:30 a.m., an officer saw a gray Acura TL speeding on Route 83, according to a report. An officer stopped the car and during questioning, the driver, identified as O'Connell, showed signs of impairment and subsequently failed sobriety tests, according to a report.

Police also located in her car nine plastic bags containing cocaine, less than a half-ounce of marijuana and an "expandable baton," according to a report.

O'Connell resisted officers at the scene, according to a report.

She was charged with speedng, interfering, drunken driving, illegally possessing a weapon in a motor vehicle, and drug possession, according to a report. She posted a $10,000 bond.
