VERNON, CT — Vernon students from Skinner Road School and Maple Street School participated in a "Backyard Marathon" on Saturday.

It coincided with the Hartford Marathon.

Both schools had running clubs in which students stayed after school to practice running. They worked to accumulate 12 or 25 miles since the beginning of school.
