Vernon Supermarket Back Open After Water Scare: Cops

A Water leak forced a Vernon supermarket to close for a few hours.

VERNON, CT — The Vernon Price Chopper supermarket reopened at lunchtime on Friday after water problems forced it to close for a few hours, according to a police incident report.

Police said they, along with the fire department, were called to the supermarket in the Tri-City plaza at about 1 a.m. after water began leaking into the store.

The leak originated in the ceiling, but was quickly addressed, police said

About a quarter of the store was affected by the leak in some way, according to an incident report.

A customer service representative said Friday morning that the target for re-opening was noon.
