Vernon Teen Charged Twice in 4 Hours
A protective order violation turned into a police chase, reports indicate.

VERNON, CT — A Vernon teen implicated in a protective order violation was charged twice in about four hours on Friday — including assaulting police, arrest reports indicate.
The first incident involving 19-year-old Jakai Lopez took place at 1:46 p.m. at the Park West apartment complex. Lopez, a resident of Woodland Street, has a child with a woman at Park West, according to an arrest report.
He was was visiting and dropping the child off in violation of a non-contact orders, according to reports.

When officers arrived at Park West, he ran from them and forced a foot chase, police said.
Lopez was taken to the hospital after the pursuit and he was being treated for about four hours, according to reports.

After Lopez was discharged and officers attempted to put him in a cruiser for transport to the VPD, he became unruly, reports say.
He was charged with assaulting an officer, interfering and two counts of violating a protective order. His bonds totaled $125,000. He was held over the weekend while awaiting a Monday court appearance, police said.
