Vernon Town Truck Gets Snagged On Utility Wires
A utility pole has been damaged on a side street near the 5 Corners rotary.

VERNON, CT — A town refuse truck got tangled in some wires Friday morning, cracking a utility pole on Emerald Drive, off Skinner Road near the 5 Corners rotary.
Wires were seen sitting atop the truck and in a pair of adjoining yards, Patch editor Chris Dehnel reported from the scene.
Public works employees were already on Emerald Drive, which had been closed off due to an ongoing paving project in the area, Dehnel reported.

Traffic was slowed but not stopped in the area. Fire vehicles are at the scene, and Frontier crews went to the scene, Dehnel reported.
Town officials said the pole was aged and weakened and was designated for replacement. Neighbors had complained the wires were already low, officials said.
