Vernon Woman Charged In 'Home Alone' Case: Warrant
A Vernon woman has been charged after a 'home alone' investigation, police said.

VERNON, CT — A Vernon woman has been charged with risk of injury to a child for, according to an arrest warrant, consistent "home alone" situations with her 9-year-old at a local apartment.
Dorothy Highes, 35, who lives in an apartment on West Main Street, is due in court on Feb. 29, according to an arrest report.
Police began investigsting her on Jan. 7 when another child called police to say a friend was missing. Police discovered the 9-year-old was often left alone while Hughes was working and no supervisory arrangements had been made, according to a warrant.
