Vernon's July In The Sky Fireworks Show Called Off For 2020
Vernon's annual fireworks show and other summertime staples have either been canceled or modified for 2020.

VERNON, CT — Vernon's Annual July The Sky fireworks display, a staple of summer activity that traditionally draws thousands from the region, has been called off because of extended concerns over the coronavirus pandemic.
The Vernon Town Council made the move to call off the fireworks display official Tuesday night. The fireworks show traditionally features activities at both Henry Park and in Downtown Rockville.
Summer camps have also been canceled.

"The health and safety of our residents and staff is the top priority," Town Administrator Michael Purcaro said. "Based on the governor's executive orders and with a focus on public health, managing risk, logistics and cost, there will be no summer camps or youth service summer programs. Following the same guidance and after working closely with our vendors, this year's July in the Sky event is canceled."
Town of Vernon pools will be closed until further notice, he said. Parks and beaches will be open with restrictions.
