Video: Vernon Police Drone Helps Locate Lost Blind Man In Enfield

A Vernon police drone unit was credited with finding a blind man who was lost in Enfield.

ENFIELD, CT — A Vernon police drone unit is being credited with locating a blind man on Saturday who was reported missing by the Enfield Police Department. The man was found by the drone team in a wooded area, police said.

Richard Doty, 62, had last been seen Friday around 10 a.m. walking in the area of Enfield Terrace.

At about 12:15 p.m., Doty was spotted down an embankment about 100 yards into the woods between Enfield Terrace and Interstate 91, police said.

Police believe Doty had been outside for about 33 hours, and he was transported to St. Francis Hospital in Hartford. There was no word as to his condition, police said.
