VERNON, CT — A vision center in Vernon closed this week without warning.
"We are no longer seeing patients at 1135 Hartford Turnpike," was the message on the Pro Eye webpage.
Cones placed up to the edge of the driveway were blocking the entrance Thursday and some patients nearly crashed along the busy stretch of Route 30 trying to turn into the place. A chain stretched along the side of the driveway to further block cars.

A terse, monotone message greeted customers who called Pro Eye. The office was closed, it said, and there are "no plans as of yet to reopen."
Patients are being advised not to leave messages because the vice mail would not be checked, the message said. Insurance questions should be sent to patients' respective carriers, the message said.
