Weaving, Speeding Driver Facing Charges For Vernon Hit-And-Run

VERNON, CT — A 48-year-old Hartford resident is facing criminal charges related to a speeding and weaving incident on Interstate 84, state police said.

The incident took place on June 18 near Exit 67 on I-84 east, state police said.

According to an arrest report, as one vehicle was traveling in the center lane and another vehicle that had been weaving in-and-out of traffic at a high rate of speed came up from behind in the right lane and, as it veered into the middle lane, hit the first vehicle at its passenger-side wheel well, state police said.

The driver failed to acknowledge the collision and sped away.

The driver of the first vehicle was able to get his plate number and the car and driver were tracked down by state police, according to an arrest report.

The driver was charged on a warrant last week with failure to maintain the proper lane and evading responsibility, according to an arrest report.
