Woman Found Stopped on Ramp in Vernon, Now Facing Drug Charges

A woman was found stopped in two places in Vernon and is now facing drug charges, police said.

VERNON, CT — A woman is due in court next week to face drug charges after she was discovered in a car stopped at first in the middle of a tricky an Interstate-84 off ramp and then on a local street, Vernon police said.

According to a police report, at 9:30 p.m. on May 31, a car being driven by 30-year-old Vernon resident Lea Michelle Norton was stopped on the exit 66 eastbound off-ramp. Another motorist approached her car out of concern, but Norton drove away, according to an arrest report.

She was then spotted by police, stopped in the middle of the road and officers found a bag of heroin in the car and a crack cocaine pipe in a cup holder, according to an arrest report.

She is due in court on June 12 to answer possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia charges, according to an arrest report.
