Woman Wanted for Christmas Day 2005 Fracas in Vernon Surrenders

A woman wanted for a Christmas Day 2005 Fracas in Vernon surrendered during Christmas Week 2017, police said.

VERNON, CT — A woman wanted for scuffling with Vernon police on Christmas Day in 2005 was arrested for the incident five days before Christmas Day in 2017, according to an arrest report.

The original responding officer — William Meier — is now a patrol lieutenant and the department's chief public information officer.

Meier said on Friday that Xiomara Rivera, who is now 30, had been out of the country. She came back to Vernon and was living on at 73 High St., he said.

Rivera surrendered on a warrant on Dec. 18, posted a $5,000 surety bond and is due on court on Jan 2, according to an arrest report.

She is charged with failing to appear on an interfering with an officer charge, according to a warrant.

She is accused of pushing an officer during a fracas at 17 Vernon Ave. in which two others were arrested, Meier said.
