Works of Rockville High School Students Published in State Magazine
Hannah Gerhard was named a top junior.
students Megan Chabre, Hannah Gerhard, Christiane Lee, Jenny Mears, Lauren Silver and Lizzie Ta were honored on Tuesday for the publication of their works in the Connecticut Student Writers Magazine.
Gerhard was named a top author for the junior class.
The statewide magazine was established in 1988 by the Connecticut Writing Project to recognize excellence in student writing from grades K through 12.
More than 1,000 entries were submitted to the magazine this year.
Cassie Bartol, Julia Bonadies, Alexis Britton, Alyssa Holmes, Chelsea McDonnell, Connor Sloat and Courtney West received honorable mention for their entries.
The students were honored at a ceremony at the University of Connecticut's Jorgeneon Auditorium, where Gerhard, who was selected as the 11th-grade state representative, read her prose piece on the Jorgensen stage.
