6 Juveniles Arrested For Reckless Dirt Bike Riding: Wallingford Police
Police said there has been an uptick in complaints regarding the "reckless and dangerous" operation of dirt bikes on roads in Wallingford.
WALLINGFORD, CT — At least six juveniles have been arrested on charges in connection with recklessly driving dirt bikes on town roads, sidewalks, or parks, according to police.
Police said the department has received an “uptick of complaints from the public regarding the reckless and dangerous operation of dirt bikes on residential and busy roadways” in town.
When patrol officers find dirt bikes riding on the road, police said the riders often disobey their signals, and state law “limits police action in these scenarios.”

“The officers of the Wallingford Police Community Impact Unit have been allocating time and resources to address this growing problem,” police wrote in a post on Facebook. “With the help of anonymous tips from the public and in collaboration with the Patrol Division, the Community Impact Unit has located and detained at least six juveniles operating dirt bikes recklessly on public roads, sidewalks, or town parks. Some of these juveniles have been identified as operators who previously taunted and fled from police officers. This effort has resulted in the issuance of juvenile summons (arrests) and charges with various violations such as reckless driving, illegal operation of a dirt bike on a public roadway, and interfering with an officer. The dirt bikes are typically confiscated because of the incident.
“The Community Impact Unit is still trying to identify and address other dirt bike operators. Photos or videos would be helpful to the investigation. The Wallingford Police Department encourages the public to call or leave an online tip with any information regarding the illegal dirt bike operation in town.”
