60 Vehicles Reported Stolen In Wallingford So Far This Year, Police Say

WALLINGFORD, CT — Wallingford police are reminding residents to lock their vehicles and to take other proactive measures to help avoid becoming the victim of a vehicle theft.

Police said the department has received 60 reports of stolen vehicles in Wallingford this year, as of Aug. 28.

“Working together and taking basic precautions can help reduce vehicle theft in our community,” police wrote in a post on Facebook.

Wallingford police are offering the following tips to help make their vehicles “less attractive to thieves.”

TAKE YOUR KEYS – Never leave your keys or key fob inside your vehicle. Never hide a spare key in or around your vehicle.

REMOVE VALUABLES – Take wallets, electronics, bags and other valuables with you. Don’t leave items visible inside your vehicle.

PARK SMART – Whenever possible, park in a garage or a well-lit, visible location.

ADD EXTRA SECURITY – Consider additional security measures such as a steering-wheel lock, alarm system, or GPS tracking device.

STAY ALERT – Report suspicious activity in your neighborhood. If you see something suspicious, say something.
