EAST HADDAM, CT — Patrick R. Lanahan, 29, of Wallingford, was killed in a 2-vehicle crash on Saturday evening, state police said.
A 2021 Honda CRV was traveling eastbound on Route 82 in East Haddam and Lanahan was driving a 2005 Nissan Roadster westbound on Route 82 when Lanahan "failed to negotiate a left-hand curve in the roadway," state police said.
Lanahan's vehicle traveled off the right side of the roadway into the grassy shoulder and glanced off a utility pole, state police said.
His vehicle then re-entered the road out of control and crossed over into the eastbound lane, striking the Honda CRV head-on, state police said.
As a result of the impact, the Honda CRV spun off the right shoulder of the eastbound lane, and Lanahan's vehicle flipped over and landed on its roof in the middle of the highway, state police said. .
Lanahan was pronounced dead at the scene, while the three people inside the Honda CRV were taken to the hospital for their injuries, state police said.
The crash is under investigation.
