Lottery officials said the winner, who regularly plays at the Stop & Shop on N Colony Rd. in Wallingford, often uses birthdays from his three daughters and grandchildren when picking numbers. He purchased the ticket for the Aug. 1 drawing.

"This time, he played a Quick Pick," officials wrote in an email. "When the scanner showed a win, he stared at the screen and asked another person nearby to double-check. 'Looks like you won 150 bucks…' It turns out the ticket was worth $150,000."

The winner called his oldest daughter first, then "went down the line in order of seniority" to share the news with the rest of his daughters, according to officials.

Officials said his first plan for the money is to pay off his credit card.
