WALLINGFORD, CT — The community is rallying around the family of a Wallingford man who was killed earlier this week while working at a quarry in Seymour.
Edwin (Ed) Sinclair, 41, was identified as the victim of the construction accident at Haynes Quarry on Derby Avenue in Seymour on Monday morning.
Sinclair had been operating heavy machinery near the base of the rock quarry when several loose rocks fell from the cliff and fatally injured him, according to police.
A GoFundMe campaign has been launched to help Sinclair's family with funeral expenses and ongoing support for his fiancée and son.
"This loss has been heartbreaking for everyone who knew and loved him, and the pain his family is carrying right now is impossible to put into words," a post on the GoFundMe page reads. "As they try to process this sudden tragedy, they are also facing the heavy financial burden that comes with it."
More than $14,500 has been raised within the first four days of the campaign (as of Friday night).
