WALLINGFORD, CT — Officials are advising motorists that the Connecticut Department of Transportation will deploy Automated Work Zone Speed Control mobile equipment on I-91 in Wallingford during roadway maintenance operations starting next week.
The work is scheduled to begin the week of Oct. 18 for about two weeks, according to officials.
The Know the Zone: Automated Work Zone Speed Control Program aims to "reduce speeding, crashes, injuries, and fatalities in work zones," according to a post on the Connecticut Department of Transportation website.
"This program uses speed safety cameras to capture information about vehicles that speed through select work zones," the post reads. "The registered owners of the vehicles captured speeding by the automated work zone speed control program will be issued warnings or citations by mail."
