Arrest Made In Carjacking Of Delivery Driver In Wallingford: Police
The delivery driver was dragged around 500 feet during the carjacking last summer, according to police.
WALLINGFORD, CT — A juvenile has been arrested in connection with a carjacking in which a delivery driver was dragged 500 feet last August in Wallingford, according to police.
Police responded to the area of Chimney Hill Road on Aug. 9, 2022, on the report of a suspicious black Honda Accord with tinted windows and a trash bag covering the license plate circling the neighborhood, according to Sgt. Stephen Jaques.
Jaques said officers converged on the area and tried to stop the Honda, but the driver fled. Police soon discovered that the Honda and its driver were involved in a nearby carjacking where a victim’s Nissan Rogue was stolen, according to Jaques.

An investigation found that the victim was delivering food to an area address when he was physically confronted by two males, Jaques said.
One of the suspects had an object in his hand, and they tried to take the victim’s black Nissan Rogue, according to Jaques.

Jaques said the victim was dragged about 500 feet before being separated from the stolen car.
The victim sustained cuts to his head, left knee, and foot, according to Jaques. The victim’s Nissan was later recovered on Prospect Terrace in Meriden.
Police were able to identify one of the suspects and obtain an arrest warrant following a “lengthy investigation involving multiple interviews, evidentiary processing, and video surveillance review,” according to Jaques.
“This investigation was conducted by the Wallingford Police Patrol and Detective Divisions with assistance from the Meriden Police Department,” Jaques wrote in a news release.
The juvenile was arrested May 5 on a warrant and charged with robbery involving occupied motor vehicle, first-degree reckless endangerment, and larceny of a motor vehicle. He was issued a court date of May 17.
