Wallingford Police Searching For Hoax Caller Who Reported Hostage Situation
A man called police saying he had shot and killed a woman inside a Ward Street home and tied up two of her relatives.

Wallingford police are investigating a possible swatting incident and are looking for the person that placed the call that led to a large police presence on Ward Street Tuesday evening.
Police received a call from a man around 4:28 p.m. reporting that he had shot and killed a woman inside a two-family home at 51 Ward St. and he had tied up two of the woman’s relatives, according to the Hartford Courant. The man made the call to the department’s routine phone line and hung up shortly after placing the call.
The Meriden Record-Journal reports police blocked off Ward Street and secondary streets for several blocks and did a thorough search of the home and found two children living with their mother on the second floor but no one else was in the apartment.

Police determined the call was a hoax and cleared the scene at 5:55 p.m., according to NBC Connecticut.
