Police: Driver Not at Fault for Fiery Crash on I-91 in Meriden

The crash involved a fuel tanker carrying 2,400 gallons of fuel oil.

The operator of the truck that rolled over on I-91 and caused a fiery accident scene was transported to the hospital for suspected minor injuries.

The highway was closed through the morning until a little after 4 p.m. as the scene was cleaned up and investigated. The accident occured around 9:30 a.m.

The vehicle was traveling northbound on I-91 in the right lane when the operator from Meriden lost control after a mechanical failure. The vehicle struck a bridge embankment.

Much of its 2,400 gallons of fuel oil was lost and ignited after the accident.
