Business Owner Donates Electric Bike To Wallingford Police Department
The local business owner plans to donate several electric bikes to the police department in the future, according to officials.

WALLINGFORD, CT — A local business owner donated an electric bike to the Wallingford Police Department last week, according to officials.
“On August 1, 2023 the Wallingford Police Department received a generous donation from Joseph ‘Joey Dee’ Derhovanesian, owner of Wallingford Electric Bike, Badboyz LLC located at 4 Meadow Street in Wallingford,” Wallingford Police Deputy Chief Anthony DeMaio wrote in a news release. “Joey Dee is a longtime Wallingford resident and business owner who told me that he simply wanted to express his heart-felt appreciation to the Wallingford Police Department for the outstanding work done by its members day in and day out. Joey Dee said, ‘I feel blessed to have such a great police department serving our community and have experienced first-hand the kindness and generosity of many Wallingford Police Officers.’”
“Pictured is the donated custom made 2023 Route 66 edition Badboyz brand electro cycle. A drive down Meadow Street will reveal a host of E-bikes outside Joey Dee’s shop. This E-bike is one of several that Joey Dee plans to donate to the department in the future. The addition of E-bikes to the police department’s fleet of standard bicycles will allow our Bicycle Patrol the ability to ride for extended periods of time while improving response times from location to location. Officer Francesco Picone was the first to deploy the E-bike in to service on Wednesday, telling me after his ride that the E-bike was well-equipped, easy to ride, quiet and a great conversation starter among those he encountered along his patrol route.”
