The Appalachian Trail: Songs & Stories from a Thru-Hiker

In March 2021, 67-year-old Skip Fredericksen of New Hartford embarked on the journey of a lifetime: a 205-day thru-hike of the Appalachian Trail, stretching from Amicalola Falls, Georgia to Mount Katahdin, Maine. Joined by his two daughters—trail names “Nocs” and “Zazu”—Skip, who became known on the trail as “Whitecap,” faced the physical and mental challenges of a long-distance trek as an older adventurer keeping pace with younger hikers. In this engaging presentation, Skip shares the trials, tribulations, and triumphs of their 2,193-mile hike through a captivating slideshow, accompanied by trail-born songs set to Broadway show tunes. This is a tongue-in-cheek celebration of family, endurance, and the unforgettable stories that emerge when three people walk nearly the length of the East Coast together.
