The History of Samhain

Samhain or Sauin is an Old Celtic festival and a predecessor of All Hallows Eve. It was traditionally held from October 31st to November 1st to mark the end of the harvest season and the beginning of winter. It was also a time to honor deceased ancestors by leaving offerings of food and drink on the threshold of one's home. Join cultural historian Rachel Koladis for a presentation on the history behind this pagan holiday, how it was celebrated in ancient times, what the thinning of the veil means, and ways to incorporate Samhain rituals into your modern festivities.
