WALLINGFORD, CT — A Choate Rosemary Hall teacher was terminated after the school received an alleged sexual misconduct report from a former student, according to a letter sent to the school community.

Julie Oxborough-Yankus was immediately placed on leave after the school received the report, Head of School Alex Curtis said in the letter. School officials also notified state and local authorities and retained a third-party to investigate the allegation.

"During the course of the investigator's work, he received new information regarding additional allegations of sexual misconduct by Ms. Oxborough-Yankus; all of the alleged misconduct occurred many years ago," Curtis said. "After a thorough process, the investigator concluded that there is sufficient and credible information to support the finding of sexual misconduct by Ms. Oxborough-Yankus against more than one student."

The school provides resources for current students and parents, as well as alumni to report alleged misconduct.

"As our actions and past communications make clear, the safety of all members of our community is our highest priority, and we have no tolerance for inappropriate conduct by adults in our community," Curtis said.
